As said new release bearing needed. You need to decide if it's time to put a new clutch in as well as 95% of the labour will already be paid for in replacing the bearing.
More than likely the clutch throw-out bearing needs to be replaced.
It's your throw out bearing. Replace the bearing and that will fix the grinding.

i have a saab 9-5 2.2tid, when i put my foot on the clutch it makes a grinding noise and stops when i take it off.. i can also freely select the gears while the engine is running any help would be greatly appreciated
