Clutch making a grinding noise when foot on pedal?

It's probably your clutch release bearing. Replacing it is quite a big job, as it sits in between the engine and gearbox, so replacing the clutch friction plate at the same time makes sense.

As said new release bearing needed. You need to decide if it's time to put a new clutch in as well as 95% of the labour will already be paid for in replacing the bearing.

More than likely the clutch throw-out bearing needs to be replaced.

It's your throw out bearing. Replace the bearing and that will fix the grinding.

You need new clutch and throw out bearing.

i have a saab 9-5 2.2tid, when i put my foot on the clutch it makes a grinding noise and stops when i take it off.. i can also freely select the gears while the engine is running any help would be greatly appreciated
