Chevy 350 ZZ4. Dead spot when you floor it?

I will look into all of those, but the truck the carb was on before ran fine. And that was a built 383 stroker made for mud drags. Could it maybe be the fuel pump? That's the only thing that isn't new

An AFB with mechanical secondaries? You sure about that? That is probably your problem, the secondaries opening waaaay too fast. You need to check your secondary air valve. Edelbrock carburetors don't have mechanical secondaries.

Sounds like the carb pump is not working, not giving it that shot of gas.

the Carter AFB carburetor is the likely culprit.you need to get the trick pack or what ever eddy and carter call it with the different size metering rods so you can dial it in. personally i would recomend a holley for the much simpler tuning.

Is the butterfly closing when throttle is all the way down ? choking out.

Fuel filter clogged or air getting in somehow.

I have a 1978 Chevy truck. 4x4. New built tranny (th350). It has a brand new ZZ4 crate motor that I bought from speedway motors. I put a Carter AFB carburetor on it. 750cfm. Same as an edelbrock. Mechanical secondary. It runs great! But everytime I put it to the floor it just sputters and even will completely die out. I don't know if it is flooding out or not getting enough fuel. I messed around with the jetts and not really any change. Suggestions would be appreciated!

Specs on the motor:

355HP

418 ft/lb torque

Mild cam/almost choppy idle

Aluminum L98 heads

Brand new motor.

Carburetor was on different truck before and the truck ran perfect.

Any suggestions on dead spot?

Thank you
