P1457 can be caused by a loose gas cap. So if you have a leaking fuel tank, I would say it is safe to assume it can cause the same code as well. It is for an EVAP control system leak. Either case, if it has a leaking fuel tank, it needs to be fixed. Gasoline attracts moisture, so you do not want water in your fuel.
How do you know the fuel tank has a leak? check your fuel cap might need replacing. That code is related to a problem with gas cap. Or look for dripping fuel under the car where the tank is.

Well you just hand over all that money to your trusted mechanic, or find out what the real problem is.
it can be as simple as a loose gas cap. minor hc leak.

Check Engine Light: P1457
I have a fuel tank leak and I need it replaced ASAP. My mechanic said that is what is causing the issue of my check engine light (he's a very good mechanic and fixed a few of my check engine lights in the past) but some people on here are saying he is wrong
what do you guys think?
