Car won't start out of nowhere? engine won't turn over and wont make any noise?

Now, if you would provide the vehicle information, (Year, Make, Model) then a diagnosis can begin.

without this info, there is no way to know if the vehicle has an Immobilizer system that inhibits starter operation.

Please update the vehicle info.

Well there is also the possibility that the clutch switch is not making contact. Do you have a manual transmission? Just follow the clutch pedal up the firewall & there it will be. Push it in by hand & try cranking the engine. I had a relative that worked on a car for 2 days trying to fig that out. I fig it out in 15 seconds.

First make sure the battery cables and any cables and wires attached to starter are tight and corrosion free.Check the neg battery cable where its attached to the engine block or timing cover too because this is the ground for the battery. You gotta test the battery to make sure it has enough power to crank the starter. The fact that the headlights and radio works doesn't guarantee that the battery is good.If it has a dead cell, there will be enough voltage to power accessories but not the starter. If this list checks out ok,check any fuses and relays for the starter, starting circuit, and battery.Replace any blown fuses or defective relays. If those are ok,the starter is most likely defective. You can remove the battery cable and any other wires from the starter, connect jumper cables between the battery and starter directly and if the starter doesn't turn over, its bad.You can also have the starter tested at Autozone before buying a new one

more than likely a starter is your problem. but it could always be just a beyond dead battery. batterys are 12 volts as you might know but a battery wont be useful if the charge inside goes past around 9.6 volts. with that voltage the starter wont be able to run. so in my opinion would be to take the battery to a part store ask them to do a load test and see if its the battery. bad ones can literally drain them selfs.

here's a timeline of what happened:

-got in car, started it, noticed a slight lag in the turn-over time but brushed it off

-drove around a good bit, stopped and parked my car several times but didnt turn it off

-came home, parked car, and turned it off, but left my keys in the ignition (still in off position, so no power should be running) because i was planning on leaving without getting out of the car

-sit in car on phone for maybe 15 -20 minutes

-go to start car to leave again

-car won't start

But i cannot figure out why it wont start? I thought it might have been a dead battery at first in case i had left the keys in the slightly on position where it wouldve drained power, so i got my mom to jump me and it did nothing. The car will still just cut on the radio and lights, but not crank or turn over or even make any noise when i tried to start it

I really dont have money for a mechanic and i have work in two days. What could be causing this?
