Did you put a fuel in it ? I would think that maybe your fuel filter is full of dirt or most likely fuel pump busted from what you wrote as it would just shut down but start and now it wont even start .If it is cranking when you turn the key but it doesn't start big chance it is fuel pump .
Fuel filter (very inexpensive) could be plugged and or the fuel pressure could be low.
The 12 volt battery under the hood may have shorted cells.
If the alternator was not charging properly you would have seen the "Bat, short for battery light illuminate on the dash when the engine was *running.
The alternator will not re-charge a battery with shorted cells.
No crank, no start?

Answer this question and we can eliminate the whole starting system being the problem.

My cars a 1997 Honda and I was driving and it just shut off?? It used to do it so I has to turn it of completely then back on. Now it won't even start.
I can t afford a new one or take it to the shop cus its to expensive and me and my family kind of got in debt from bills etc.
What could be wrong?? What can I try doing to fix it?
