Car still moves when i step on break pedal?

I am not getting a clear picture.

1) Are you talking about creeping? This is with an aautomatic transmission when it is hard to hold it back. Means the engine is too fast--for some reason which will also effect emissions.

2) It also sounds like maybe you hold the pedal down and it stops holding the car because the piston bottoms out in the master cylinder. I had this once and it was the master cylinder. But it could also just be air in the system. You had the bleeddin gdone so I think your brother is right.

On mine I got a brand new master cylinder and it is still working great after years. Aused one would be cheaper but they all wear out.

If there is fluid, then you probably have a failing master cylinder seal. They can sometimes be replaced, rather than having to replace the whole master cylinder. If the pedal goes hard at first then slips to the floor, or pumping the brake pedal stops the creeping, that's diagnostic of a master cylinder issue.

If your brother first put his finger on a master cylinder, tell your brother to take a whole look over of your braking system, shoes, pads, HOSES, etc, Fix any of those if they appear to be a problem, try it in the driveway, if it's still not working right, call the auto parts store, as for a new master cyclinder (yours should be cheap) grab some simple tools and some brake fluid and make him some sandwiches and egg nog.

Might be the master cylinder, might be a bad power brake booster, might be something else. Regardless, if you're needing to use the emergency brake just to stop the car on the road, it's time to stop driving the car on the road until the brakes are right.

Check the brake fluid. If it is low, you have a leak (perhaps the wheel cylinders leak). If the brake fluid is low, it could have sucked air from the master cylinder (which would make the spongy brake pedal symptom that you described).

If not low on fluid, it is very likely that you have blow-by in the master cylinder (blow-by means internal leaking). That would require rebuilding or replacing the master cylinder.

Since you have no clue what you are doing when it comes to a car how about you quit guessing and get the brakes repaired by a good mechanic?! I'll wager you've been driving a car with faulty brakes for quite some time now while pondering what may be the problem!!

Brakes not working and brake pedal going to the floor when pressed down, classic sign of a faulty master cylinder.

It is the master cylinder leaking internally. I've had the same problem before on a RAV4.

Yeah I would check the master cylinder, its cheap and easy to replace.

I have a 1994 toyota camry and i was at a stop light and the car started rolling forward. I thought maybe i wasnt on the breaks all the way but i've noticed it doing this a lot so now i have to pull the emergency break when i'm stopped. I can also feel the breaks going to the floor when im stopped. I got my breaks bled and the break fluid is full and it still rolls. Does anyone have an idea of what's going on before i spend money to have someone look at it. My brother said i need a new master cylinder? Is that right?

*BRAKE

Servo has a leak or seals gone on master cylinder, you need it checking by a decent mechanic. NOT by the one that bled them as they did not fix the problem or even notice the problem was still there.

it could be the master cylinder. it seems the most likely based on what is given.

It sound like a bad master cylinder, or possibly you got a bad o ring on the caliper letting air back into the system. But I'm like 85% sure its the master cylinder.

Could be. At least that's a place to start looking. Take the car to a REAL mechanic and have your BRAKES checked.

it is time to have the brakes looked at. there is a problem there in the brakes or the engine is idling too high and creating more power than the brakes can hold.

Check all the BRAKE lines for leaks.
