Have someone do a fuel pressure test to check the
-fuel pump
-fuel pressure regulator
-fuel filter
-fuel injectors.
In the mean time, when you go and start the car, set the key in the "On" position for about 3 seconds to let the fuel pump run and pressurize the fuel line/system. Set the key back to the "Off" position. Repeat the process 3 to 4 times and then start the engine.
There are lots of sensors and faults that could cause this problem but a Crankshaft/camshaft sensor fault is a good possibility, they basically tell the engine control unit when to add fuel and when to ignite it.
Because it could be one of many things I would advise getting the garage to coderead any faults that the ecu may have logged.
#1. Change the fuel filter first.
#2. Ask the dealer of the car to test the fuel pressure on the fuel rail pressure fitting under the hood. This is a very inexpensive test BUT the fuel filter must be clean to get an accurate fuel pressure reading. Plugged fuel filters are the #1 cause of electric fuel pump failures.
Have garage look at it. Run fault codes if engine stalls and is hard to start? Possible fuel or sensor. Issues.
Non restarting after idling or engine cutting out often has fuel vapourisation issues .
i dont know
Okay so I have a 1997 Acura 2.5 TL with 152k and I was driving it this morning to school and I was stopped behind a car at a red light about to turn right. I had to sit at the light for about 2 minutes and right when I had to go I put my foot on the gas and the car wouldn't go! Everything was working fine, my battery and everything like my radio remained on but my engine wasn't. I tried to restart it right away and it wouldn't start after about 7 minutes it started up again but it wasn't easy. Also the pasty 2-3 weeks in the morning it wouldn't start right away and I would have to try about 5-7 times before it would! What do you hunk is wrong with my car? Also do you think that it's about ready to be done with?
