Well if you want to only know if you broke something the answer is no. If you want to know what is wrong take it to the dealer, it is not the transmission that is a problem it is the engine. Did you forget to mention the engine light is on?
This question is like asking directions without stating your location! We need FACTS!! It sounds like a transmission issue but it could be many other things. This could be anything from wheel bearing to rear end to transmission to a throttle position sensor! Need more details!!!
Are these links any help to you? If car bought new,3yr Basic Warranty or 5yr Drive-train Warranty.
Take it to a transmission shop
I do a lot of city driving and I know it's good to put the car on the highway every once in a while to keep things going. Yesterday I decided to drive to the next major city where i live (drove from Cincinnati to Columbus, Ohio) and back in a round trip (little over 200 miles). The whole time I had my cruise control on set at 70 MPH. Now I'm back home and when I drove to work this morning it revved high and I had higher than normal rpms. It also seemed to have lost its pickup. It doesent go unless I floor it and it makes this horrible rrrrrr sound. Its also shifts really hard suddenly (it's a 6speed automatic). It's a 2012 Dodge Avenger with 36800 miles. Did I break something?
I do this kind of driving at least twice a month and it's never done this before.
