Maybe. It only takes a drop to fill the car with that aroma. Could be a tinny leak at a connection. You will have to do some more investigation to find out which.
Maybe a slow/small leak inside. ie heater core.
does your window fog up when you turn the heat on to defrost? It sounds like your heater core is the culprit here.

My car runs perfect and has no other known issues, but recently when I turn on either heat or AC it smells like the classic "maple syrup" coolant smell, I don't smell it what so ever under my hood and I'm not losing any coolant. Could it be the heater core starting to go bad?
