Car battery is low?

I agree with kevin because it starts, it was low, and you ran it, and it helped, and it restarts, Yes the connections are very important to a battery in these circumstances, and could be the partial cause coupled with the fact many loads were being created, doors open, powering extra stuff like the dash.

To get the charge capability from your alt, you must hold it at 2000 rpm. That is the most for your use of fuel possible.

With clean and shiny metal on the posts and in the clamps, current can flow easy to charge it back up. get them tight so you cant turn them around by hand.

Then you can decide to get it checked when you get back to town. add water in the cells to 3/4" from the top. be sure your drivebelt is in good shape.

If you want to stop any battery discharge, take the (-)side cable off after your charge up.

Camp worry free, wooohooo!

P.S. all these other answers are mentally trained by battery sales peoples misnomer upsale, best advice from part stores.

when is the last time you replaced the battery if its the original one I would go ahead and get a new 1 but starting a car does not charge a battery that isnt the job of the alternator its to maintain the charge it already has it wont charge it to full but may give it enough boost to maintain your ability to start it. like a few others have suggested get it tested

You don't have to rev it. Idle will do. You could let it run at least 5 minutes. It will take a minute to regain the energy lost during the start. I'd say six hours. Look around for something besides a door that may be left on.

Drive or take the 12 volt battery to any store *other than Auto Zone that sells new ones. Ask for a free 15 second *battery load test. This quick test will tell you the reserve amperage capacity. Amperage spins starter motors not voltage.

If the battery is that low it will take more than 5 min to charge it, more like 30.

You left something on, but you need to take it for a run or leave it running for a lot longer if you hope it to start. One would need a gauge to know exactly when it is charged.

Don't keep starting it. Starting a car uses a huge amount of battery power. A good long run (50 miles +) will recharge it slightly but it sounds like you need a new battery.

Running it will help but unless you've been leaving side lights or the radio on you have a faulty battery which will need replacing

Clean the terminals.

So been camping since yesterday and have till sunday. Yesterday we opened the trunk and doors a million times to get stuff in and out. This morning when I went to start the car, it didnt start on the first time. On the 2nd attempt it started and I left it running for 5min and revving the engine abit. Does that do good for the battery? Just wabt your opinion on what to do. Should I start it every 3hrs or 4hrs and rev the engine abit to keep ot charged till sunday maybe?

It is a 2009 sedan so when doors open it will display in the dash.

Thank you for your time and help.
