Car battery is dead, advice on how to proceed?

Before you take your battery out and spend money on a new battery you should check you battery terminals. If either terminal is loose, tighten it and then turn your key on. If there's still no dash lights your battery is probably drained. Make sure your headlights and interior light switches are off. You can always turn your key on, put your car in neutral and push it out of your garage to jump it. There should also be a date sticker visible somewhere on your battery as well. If it's pretty old, replace it but there's no reason to spend money before determining what the problem is.

I question your logic as to reaching for the smartphone to text a message. Seems as if you also write in sort of code. "My car battery is dead. Any advice?" Sentences have purpose. To communicate. Logic tells me that if the car has a flat tire I have it repaired or replaced. Car batteries follow the same logic. Unless you left the lights on or the key in the ignition in the ON position, drunks do that, a car battery that is not doing its job needs to be replaced. Why ask here if you need to call AAA? Is that obvious? All the answers as to pulling the battery, etc. are not valid. First of all, it takes knowledge and another car to do as they suggest. Second of all there is no much, in absence of data as to the battery not working before or having this issue for some time, etc. Batteries, how they are made, how the work, etc. is amply covered online. Use Google to locate it if you wish.

Take the 12 volt battery to any store that sells new ones *other than Auto Zone. Ask for a free 15 second battery load test which will tell the reserve amperage capacity. Amperage spins starter motors not voltage.

Push car out to enable jump start. Battery needs checking out but may be alternator issue.

Bear in mind a fully dead battery can give rise to issues with electronics eg radio that may need ciders put back in .

Take you old battery out of your car and take it to a store to get a new one. Put the new one back into your car. You can look up online how to replace a car battery in any model and make of car.

yes of course call AAA . You could also go and purchase a small battery charger and let it charge overnight .

My car battery recently died. Nothing happens when I put in the keys (in fact, the remote doesn't even work to unlock the car). If the electronics don't even come on, does that mean the battery is just completely drained or could there be a deeper problem? I'm not sure how old the battery is. To make it worse, it died in my garage, so I can't jump it with the short cables I have on-hand. Should I just call AAA?
