Car Question: Does this sound good/ bad?

Posted at: 2015-01-07
Based on the diagrams I am looking at I thought the catalytic converter is farther up in the line...I had to change the muffler piece from the flange gasket on my last car so that's why I was thinking someone cut of the flange gasket down to the end of the tailpipe. I wish I had taken a picture...

Catalytic converters are no where near 84 dollars lol. Thats an over priced honda. Your better off without it and keep the cash

Sounds like someone cut off the catalytic converter & they cost a hell of alot more than 84$. Tell the owner to have it repaired(for 84$) and you will pay him 2500$.P.S. that is still a lot of money for a 98 veh. with 200,000 miles.

I wouldn't buy a car with that many miles. For that price especially. Most motors fail electronically after 200,000 miles. The wire harnesses ware out and their not cheep to replace. I'd pass the deal up if I was u.

Walk away from that Frankenstein car. It has more cut-and-paste problems than you can imagine. He can't show you a good smog certificate that you need to register the car. And 200,000 miles on that car is near the end of its life.

stay away or renegotiate AFTER the repairs are made.

I am looking in to buying a 98 Honda civic lx for $2500. I got to see the car and drive it. It drive nice since its a manual. It has 200k miles on it.

Now the problem I did notice is the exhaust pipe, the main one, It appears to have been cut off too short which took off the flange gasket and the muffler the guy has to put on it has been saudered a few times and it does not have the end piece or the other half connection to the flange gasket which means I would have to get both of the pipes. The long one and a whole new muffler, right? The car he said is worth 2k but he just put new tires and rims on it. The pieces cost $84 new and then I would still have to pay for the labor to replace them.

Does this sound right or should the price be lower?
