Can you use the same brake pads on resurfaced rotors?

Or do you need a new set of pads?

you can but it,s not a very good idea to use old pads on resurfaced rotors ! anytime you resurface rotors or buy new rotors you should always buy new pads also !

For no more than brake pads cost and by having it torn down replace them. Chances are the old pads are grooved or glazed anyway.

If you NEED to turn down the rotors, it's likely that the pads are worn to the point that they should be replaced.

It depends on how crookedly the old pads are worn. If they are worn perfectly straight then they are fine. It will be hard to tell without putting them on and trying them out. But it sounds like you are trying to save money and consider your time to be worthless. I would say paint the rotors lightly with a spray can, install the pads and go out on the road and make a few easy stops. Then look at the paint. That will give you an idea of how the pads mate with the rotors and help you understand what is going on.
