Make sure you take all the smog equipment from donor vehicle. Otherwise it won't pass smog. No it shouldn't mess up the drive train. You might have to change the transmission because it might not mount up the same.
As long as you move the entire engine wiring harness and computer from the donor vehicle. In other words, it's a HUGE deal.
It can be done without to much problems. Check with who ever you plan on doing the work.
The engine is the same. You could swap long blocks, all you need is to change the computer tune.
Just wondering, like would it mess up the frame or anything ? i have a 2008 extended cab silverado. it currently has a 5.3l with 227k miles on it. if i dropped a new 6.0l in it, or it mess anything up ?
