One of my son's friends was given her mother's old car, which is two years newer than our pride and joy, because her mother thought it was too old. Our '98 model starts when we turn the key an stops when we push the brake.. It gets regular maintenance and repairs when necessary. All that will kill it are a crash or rust. Keep driving.
It may be a safety issue with her. If you are maintaining the car, and its running good, you may get another 20-50 thousand miles out of it.
Hi she is right it is near to the end f it's life. the fact you are lovingly caring for it and nursing it along it could go on a lot longer. so best of luck with it.
If it still runs and drives and doesn't nickel and dime you, keep it. Besides, 145k isn't really that much for modern cars.
I have a 2000 Buick Century with 145,000 miles. My mom said she is surprised my car is lasting this long. I live where we get salty roads in the winter. The car still looks good and runs well. Since the car must be worth no more than $500 I can't see why I shouldn't just keep it until it would die. I maintained the car well. Shouldn't my car be able to last longer and why does my mom feel it should be done for by now?
