Can someone give me advice on my car?

A very common problem on the 2.4l engines as the mileage gets higher. The lower timing chain guide breaks and the cam timing jumps. This also causes the ignition timing to retard and cause the stall. Have the timing checked, if it's out, the lower chain has jumped. Consider this a gift, an early warning sign, if you let this go much longer the valves will smash into the pistons and the repair cost will be greater than the value of the car. There is some good news, the timing chain guide has been updated and you don't have to remove the cylinder head to change it. This engine has a two piece timing cover which negates that but you will have to remove the oil pan.

14 years of blissful rice grinding.

You're done.

Now pick another.

If you love it, then they come in a crate with low miles quite often.

Try the japanese engine specialists in your area.

If you have spark or fuel trouble you will need to still fix or replace things that are not part of the guarantee on the crate engine or that are not the same as yours.

Idle problems can be many things from misfire, to plugged passages, to bypass valve etc.

Poor idle quality can also come from fuel system trouble, lack of maintenance plugged injectors, vacuum problems etc.

Even emission controls can malfunction.

Ah, have it checked out by a pro.
