LIGHT POPPING NOISE WHEN TURNING? ESPECIALLY WHEN STOPPED? SAME LIGHT POPPING NOISE WHEN ON A ROUGH ROAD? SUSPENSION AND STEERING SEEM FINE EXCEPT FOR THIS FUNNY LIGHT POPPING NOISE?
IT'S THE MCPHERSON STRUT UPPER MOUNT ASSEMBLY. GET 2 OR 3 PEOPLE TO GET ON ONE SIDE OF CAR WITH HOOD UP. HAVE EVERYONE BOUNCE THE CAR. PUT YOUR HAND ON THE UPPER STRUT MOUNT. YOU WILL FEEL IT AND HEAR IT.
GET NEW STRUTS AND HAVE ALL THE PARTS IN THE MOUNTING OF SPRING CHANGED. UPPER AND LOWER RUBBER PIECES FOR SQUEAKS. BE SURE ALL OF THESE PIECES ARE COATED WITH HEAVY SILICONE FRONT END GREASE. NEW UPPER STRUT MOUNT BEARING AND INSULATORS.

PS...NOW IS A GOD TIME TO PUT IN THOSE NEW SPRINGS YOU'VE BEEN WANTING. NO DAMAGE IS OCCURING THIS IS JUST ANNOYING NOISE.
Whenever this happens to me it's either a CV joint or the strutt mount as mentioned above.
Could, but you'd feel it in steering wheel. More likely a CV joint or what CB said.
Lower aframe if it four wheel drive your front spindal can be breaking inside inner wheel
More than likely, the lower ball joints or the lower A-frame (lower control arm) bushings need to be changed.
Check your sway bar links too. I bet this is a CV axle though as stated.
When a rack and pinion is going bad they make popping noise when turning or going over small plot hole on the road ?
