Can a SCREW get into my tire by driving over it?

yes, i keep a dewalt cordless drill and a 500 box of sheetmetal screws in my truck just for people who cut me off. you were in joplin right?

Screws are by far the most likely fastener types to penetrate tires:

A. Because they do not lie flat like nails so tires can run over then unharmed.

B. Because rolling pressure on the side of a screw will tend to stand it up, pointing up.

C. Because things that screws can come loose from are far more apt to be travelling along vehicle paths than nails (that tend to stay around home).

D. Because screws don’t like to bend.

E. Because screws are machines that like to turn to reduce the force needed to penetrate.

F. Because screws are not happy not screwing something…anything.

It's easy for that to happen. Have you ever stepped on a nail or something sharp. Same goes for your car only it's much heavier than you are so a screw can pretty easily go through tire rubber.

Yes, i have one in my tyre ATM, until i can get it fixed. DO NOT remove it until you get it fixed so that your tyre will not go flat as quickly.

Here in Australia, we have to go as far wide from an echidna when one has been killed on the road. The spines go everywhere and embed in the tyre, and than when we get them repaired with a patch, they are not noticed. They slowly work there way through and puncture the new patch.

the weight of the car can force the nil or screw into the rubber. it has happened so very many times.

Happens all the time. Just have it plugged.

YES YOUR PARANOID I HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUES AS WELL AS VARIOUS OTHERS BUT THAT KIND OF THING DOES HAPPEN

It has happened to me more than once.

I left my jobs parkin lot. Only like 3 or 4 blocks later I noticed my steering wheel pullin left. Then 3 blocks later makin noise. A screw was inside my tire all the way. Did someone take the time to screw it in or am I paranoid???
