Can I spray paint the window trim around my car to a chrome color?

I have black window trim, but I want to make it chrome. Is there a way to spray paint this? And will it be durable? Or am I just wasting my time even thinking about achieving that?

Wasting your time. I've never seen a chrome (silver) paint that didn't fade over time and look crappy. If you can take the trim off there are companies that can "plate" your plastic trim to look very much like chrome and is durable. That process comes with a price.

Chrome paint bought in a can rarely looks very good. There are processes that can make plastic look chrome but they can get expensive and in some cases aftermarket trim pieces can be less expensive. Painting a plastic surface to look chrome is also difficult. The material is generally very smooth and prone to runs. You would want to remove it and lay it flat so you can apply multiple coats. Be sure to keep surface clean of oils etc as chrome paints on plastic are prone to fisheyes...

Wasting your time with paint as it never looks like actual chrome. If your really good you could purchase the plastic wide strip material od sticker they sell for the bottom edge of cars and trucks and simply cover the trim.

hi, on some cars they actually paint the black over the chrome part .. So try scratching the black and see if it just painted over chrome.

good luck

There is a "mirror like" spray paint out there i think its made by krylon im not sure how well it would work on a rubber or plastic surface

I think you are wasting your time
