In older (more worn) cars fresh oil can reduce HC emissions as read on the test, but usually not much. For cars new enough to have an oil life indicator, and especially one that says nearly half the life is left, it really would not make a difference except for being an extra expense.
It has nothing to do with smog.
do it anytime, ....but at 43% life remaining,...I wouldnt worry about it yet
Just curious. I need to get my smog done but my oil is at 43% life and I'm wondering if I should even do it before the test? Will it even affect anything overall? I'm pretty diligent about getting it done consistently. Any suggestions would be helpful.
