Hi I have a burnt out valve on my Rover 800 Vitesse Coupe and was wondering if I can get away with just replacing the burnt value rather then replacing all of them?

yes it is possible to only replace just those valves which have become so burnt.

you may find that other items like the valve guides too might be worn.

Yes. It possible to simply replace faulty valves but...check others are seating correctly, check all valve seats in cyl head . Check valve stem oil seals.

It's often false economy to just do minimal fix . However if funding is critical? Then it's feasible. Do fit new gaskets and oil and filter etc.

Agree with Mark: most of the cost is the labor of getting-at and taking-off the head - might as well have it done properly while you're spending the money.
