Not very , there are too many things in car repair which a novice cannot just "learn as you go". You can waste loads of money repairing your screw up , a cool idea but just not realistic.
My uncle was a master mechanic and taught me all about cars when I was a teen, I never realized just how lucky I was when I was growing up.
Just fixing a car can be very complicated, imagine how hard BUILDING one would be. I would either seek out someone to be a mentor/teacher, or take a class.
Buy a Haynes manual.
Alright, so I really want to learn how to work on cars and all that good stuff, but I don't really have anyone in my life to teach me. So I was going to straight up buy a project car and teach myself as I go. I was going to purchase a 240sx and work from the ground up. How probable is this idea?
