Battery loses voltage after a fail start?

Dud battery.

The 14v with the engine running suggests it's being charged properly.

The lack of cranking power, and the voltage falling off quickly says the battery is bad.

The fuel pump has no bearing. Even if the fuel pump was bad, the engine would still crank (Just not fire)

Should be covered under a warranty?

These are my first thoughts.

The new batt is bad, or,

you have a batt cable connection problem., a poor batt cable will prevent a batt from charging.

Or you have a drain on your batt when the car is turned off. and it draining your batt.

Just as a side note :

The last new batt i bought came charged like they all do.

But my batt would not stay charged even though it was being charged by the Alt.

I put my batt charger on it and fully charged the with batt with the charger.

I dont know why , but that solved the problem.

After that , my batt and chraging worked perfectly.

You've probably a dud cell, get the battery droop tested and replaced, if shown to be faulty, before real winter sets in.

But the battery is brand new, can it still be it?

I would rather hope it is battery, then my starter or solenoid

I have a weird problem with my car.

First of all the battery voltage at rest is 12.61

While engine is running it is 14.01

But my car barely start, the engine cranks very slowly and I need to press gas for it to properly start.

Sometimes it doesn't start at all. Now if I check my voltage after a fail start it drops to 10.5 or 11.0, but after an hour or so it slowly gets up to ~12.5

Can anyone explain what's going on?

I have a brand new fuel pump and battery (both 2 months old)

Car is 2004 BMW 320i
