No. It is not smoke. It is steam and it is toxic. But the amount you have is not going to hurt you unless you get your nose close to the core and breath it in for about two hours. You left out the "Whatta I do?" part. You get the core replaced at a good radiator shop. So ask around. Any mechanic will be happy to fix it. But he will send it out to that same "good radiator shop" you can find yourself and then stick his fee on your bill. If you don't fix it, the steam (radiator fluid) will keep condensing on the windows. Then you can't see out the windows and they get all mucked up like someone sprayed a coke.
If the smoke is hot steam then yes your heater core could be leaking, but there would be water leaking too.
When antifreeze leaks on to the hot core, it has a sweet smell. No it is not toxic unless it is orange, then it might be (orange=oxalic acid, not ethylglycol=green)
To fix = toss a can of bars leak into the radiator and drive it until all the coolant burns off
All automotive antifreeze IS TOXIC.
Yup, they'll do that. Have fun pulling your dashboard to get to it.
Great question imbecile
