Or there is a collision switch that is bad, it would turn off the fuel pump in a collision.

usually it takes 3-4 times to achieve fuel pressure

Or empty fuel tank.

or bad pump relay

or bad ground

Trying to establish the problem with my car. I detatched the fuel line from my fuel rail on my 97 ram 1500. Turned the key but didn't try to crank he engine and the fuel pump (from what I understand) should kick on for 3-5 seconds then shut off if the engine doesnt crank. Well when I did that, no fuel came out of the line, so that would pretty .much peg it in as being a bad pump right?
