It's an 89 Nissan pickup and the light was a dim red
See if you can get your old battery back, you need a new alternator.
I'm thinking it was your alternator.

For a few days I noticed in the morning when I would be driving to work that my check battery light would be on but when I would start it to go home in the afternoon it would be off.
Yesterday I went to start it after getting to a restaurant for dinner, it was clicking and wouldn't start so I thought it was the battery but my lights would turn on. I had a friend come jump me. I got to a stop light, the rpm's started to flutter and then the dash lights started to flicker and it stalled. It's a manual so we tried pushing it and it would try and start but nothing.
I don't know anything about vehicles, but after having bought a new battery it got me home okay and around a few blocks a while later. Was it just a dead battery or my alternator?
