Automatic or standard?

Posted at: 2015-01-07
I'm a new driver and going to buy my first car soon. The problem is I wanna drive standard but don't know how. Should I buy automatic or standard??

All of my cars have been stick-shifts and I can't see myself changing my mind for my next vehicle. But, manual transmissions are not for everyone.

I suggest you learn to drive a stick first and see if you really like it. It may turn out that you don't and an automatic would be better suited for you. That's not something you want to discover after buying a standard transmission car.

You said you don't know how to drive standard but do you know how to drive automatic? If yes, then automatic seems like an obvious choice but if you have to learn and then drive and you like standard then go for standard. Sure it is difficult to learn standard at first but after a while both feels the same. A standard car will cost you less to buy and run on the other hand an automatic gives you more control. I personally like automatic bcoz I mostly drive on busy streets with a lot of people walking so I prefer to have my both hands on the wheel but then it is just my preference.

Always get an automatic for your first car.

get a manual. auto is beyond boring and doesnt keep a young driver's attention to the road like a manual does.

go for automatic it will help you a lot in traffic

Not all that hard to learn but for a commuter car and daily driver an automatic is a lot more practical .
