Auto-manual transmission on a car?

its still an automatic. i have a 2003 acura tls with something similar. i can put it just into drive adn let it do its own thing, or slap it over to a gate on the side of the shifter console and shift it myself whenever i want to. its still an automatic. but one recommendation? dont do it. if your car has a drive option...just put it in drive and let it do its thing. back in the day, 30 years ago, a person could shift better than an auto tranny. with todays technology though, no human can be as good as the machinery. if you want your tranny to last longer, dont try to manually shift it. even if it has the option to.

Hello,

Cars need transmissions because of the physics of the gasoline engine. First, any engine has a redline -- a maximum rpm value above which the engine cannot go without exploding. Second, if you have read How Horsepower Works, then you know that engines have narrow rpm ranges where horsepower and torque are at their maximum. For example, an engine might produce its maximum horsepower at 5,500 rpm. The transmission allows the gear ratio between the engine and the drive wheels to change as the car speeds up and slows down. You shift gears so the engine can stay below the redline and near the rpm band of its best performance.

Hello,

you can change your car but you can't use a car automatic and manual both you have to choose any of them. If you want to change manual to automatic then there should be some change of your cars transmission system. the transmission system should be automatic transmission. like gear box or other additional necessary instruments, and the clatch paddle will be withdrawal.

Its an automatic boys no different then going from 1st to 2nd to drive if there is no clutch pedal its not a manual

an automatic transmission. a manual has a clutch pedal

3 pedals = manual case closed

Hey all,

Recently, a friend and I are debating whether a auto-manual transmission is considered a manual car. Does manual strictly mean stick shift?

I have a Lexus RX350 with 6-speed automatic w/OD and auto-manual, as in I am able to change the gears without a clutch.

What would this be considered? An automatic car? A manual car? A car that can be both automatic and manual?

Thanks in advance!
