Are newer cars more expensive to repair?

Yes they are more expensive to repair and maintain. Some models have made it impossible to even change a headlight bulb yourself without specialist tools. Service scheduals MUST have the code reset in the computer or the car goes into safe mode ect ect.

New cars today are just there to make money FOR THE MANUFACTURER even AFTER you buy it.

I don't buy cars I cannot do at least a major service on myself without needing a ton of new tools.

I'll speak from personal experience. I have friends that bought a "new" 2011 Cobalt. They've drove it every since and i don't think that they've changed the oil even one time. Although, they've never had a problem with it.

Now, I bought a yellow 2001 pontiac firebird low miles for $3,000. It had a couple things wrong with it but they were easy fixes. Then i have two tires blow. Then I give it a tune up. I had it for about three months then the alternator goes out, so i let it sit over winter b/c its rwd anyway. Then the head cracks. Then I replace the engine. Then theres a bad miss so I change some injectors... ya see where I'm going?

So it could just be worth it in the long run to buy a new car but whenever you buy a used car you theres always a risk.

why not read right on this site about the kids who finance new cars then write them off, then cry that insurance isn't giving back half what they paid for it, then crying a lot then everyone telling them they should have looked into this before buying new and that's what I am saying to you! phew!

Yes

Your mom is wrong, because cars have had installed computers and high tech electronics for over 25 plus years now.

If you were talking about a 1975 Chevy Nova, yeah, that would be relatively easy to fix. But, at that age, you'd have to fix it daily.

yes, but they fail less frequently

buy a new one with a 10 year, 100,000 mile warranty like Kia or Hyundai (their manufacturer, Hyundai puts their faith in the products they offer for sale in the US)

I was thinking of buying a brand new car, but my mom said because of all of the new electrical features they put in new cars, it's too pricey to repair. Is it better to buy a new car or one of the older models?
