Dentist friend of mine had one. He said as soon as the warranty is up, get rid of the thing. He was always getting something fixed, and was always much more expensive than his other cars. He said he would never own one again. He did say it was fun to drive.
Plan on spending at least $2,000 per year in unexpected repairs. That's over and above normal maintenance. I know several people who own or have owned them. They never make more than a year without an expensive repair. They've never been stranded, but they're always dealing with something wearing out prematurely. IMHO it's very poorly designed. It's for looks, not reliability
Yes, on paper seems they aren't as complicated as some cars and shouldn't be high-maintenance........but remember: they're designed by BMW and contain some BMW bits and service can be at BMW prices.............and.......they're made in England by English "craftsmen" with some English parts: some things never change.
