Are Euro cars the best cars today?

American cars sucks like hell.

Would you drive a Euro car or a Japanese car?

I like Toyota/Lexus from Japan.

Porsche and Benz Mercedes-Bens from Germany...

You are a 'little' prejudiced. Read Consumer Reports. There is not a lot of difference any more between , Euro,Jaqpanese and American. And a lot depends on how you lable them.. There are BMWs and Toyotas that are officially labelled American

European cars are the most sophisticated. They have a good built quality and sexy designs, especially no one can create interiors as the Europeans do. The European cars are long lasting than others. The only thing is that Japanese rivals are cheaper.

American cars are huge and they eat up fuel tanks. Very unsophisticated , very heavy and horrible designs poor quality. Cannot compete with other rivals

Japanese cars got the cheapest spare parts and best fuel economy out of all which makes them very economic. So if you are a budget chap this is the solution.

ONE WORD DESCRIPTION

EUROPEAN - MAGNIFICIENT

AMERICAN - USELESS

JAPANESE - ECONOMIC

i think ill stick to old detroit iron, made in the good old usa, not these new shiny turds!

The complex structure of car making on a global basis means that each manufacturer creates car for a specific market based on customer wants, government regulations and other requirements such as environmental controls. There is no "best" car. That is a pure marketing tool. There are quality brands and have had a hit at times depending on the year of manufacture and model. Infinti makes excellent cars but has had issues with many models. GM is building quality cars as well with also less than sterling models. Mercedes-Benz went cheap years ago and lost market shares as its vehicles became a nightmare to keep up. Audi the same way. As to Harry's comment, Detroit does not own US companies anymore. Chrysler/Jeep is owned by FIAT. The Dodge Challenger has an engine built in Mexico and is assembled in Canada. Not much American except the design and specification. The Corvette is a high powered engine in a mediocre body and ancient suspension living on reputation and on building 84 chassis a day and only those ordered by dealers. US expects, and gets, cheap cars for the most part and since economics here are different than anywhere else, many people own cars they cannot maintain properly. Car suffer from lack of service and repair. This website is full of kids that have issues with cars they can hardly describe asking "how do I fix this?" Just not possible. Sure, you can buy a 12 year old car or truck for $3,000 bucks like so many do but when that AC breaks, the ignored and abused transmission fails, the worn out engine sputters and overheats, there is no money to repair the car. THE US teen driving a car that overheats, THE solution is the thermostat, a device that EVER causes an overheat. European vehicles and GM sells cars there and also other car manufacturers, are built differently. In car sales the US market will not buy a cheap car. In fact go to any dealership and ask for the bare bones, no thrills, basic model of the cheapest car. It is not available. Take the Toyota Corolla. It comes in several trims. It is not a luxury car, and yet, the "S" model, the same engine, same everything except for certain luxuries the people "want" is a large seller. Why? Status. But, in a logical world, buying a cheap car and just dressing it up, is foolish. In my vies, a "cheap" Mercedes-Benz, such as the latest offering for $29,995 built in the USA should be an insult to owners of other models of this brand. But it is selling. I hope the quality is good because outside of the warranty period I would not own one. But there are some good model years of any brand, any region at some time. There is no blanket this or that as to cars. Buy what you want but to ascertain what you did here, not factual and does not hold water. Look at the reputable Toyota Motor Corporation. How many recalls for how many vehicles of different model years have happened in the last five years? More than any car company. I own a 2008 Mercury Mariner hybrid. This is the same model as the Force Escape and other similar bodies. Due to a design flaw, a bit of rust develops on the rear wheels area. So, I had that repaired. Apart from a hybrid battery cooling pump repair, at 84,000 miles, the car has been excellent. I just completed a 5,300 mile road trip from the midwest to the Arizona, New Mexico, Texas even going up to 9,000 feet elevation mountains. No issues even holding 80 MPH on the Interstate at times. It is AWD. Other Ford products, not so good. This one has an excellent reputation.

Despite all the crowing from drivers of Asian-made cars about how "problem free" their Nissans, Kias, Hyundais, Hondas, Toyotas are, I'll stick with European (German) makes. The European marques may cost more to both purchase and maintain but the precise "feel" of the road they impart is vastly superior to anything else on the market. For me, the Asian marques are boring and mind-numbing. It's like perpetually driving a car rented from Hertz or National. For some, merely getting from point A to point b is enough. For others, it's not.

Similarly, both a Seiko and a Rolex serve the same basic function: to keep the time of day. And despite the fact that a Rolex costs more to buy and maintain, I'll take it any day over a Seiko.

Happy to see you left out glorified Volkswagen, Audi. They charge very close to $2,000 to change a freaking water pump!

Let me tell you a true story about Toyota - Lexus: When the lower control arm bushings crap the bed, get ready to buy the entire control arms not just the bushings @ $1,350.

No. They are the worst to maintain.
