Air filter on a 1997 buick lesabre, 3800 v6?

Open the hood and standing looking at the engine the filter will be on your right side inside that big black box you see with the black flexible hose connected to it going to the engine intake. Located in the big black box in the front drivers side of the engine compartment is the sir filter. First loosen the clamp on the large hose leading to the air box, then pull and twist it to remove it from the intake/plenum, then remove it fully from the air box. Loosen the two screws at the top of the air box (these screws do not need to be fully removed as the will unscrew so far and then want to stay in the housing) and flip the cover back to expose your air filter. Replace the air filter the same way you removed the old one. Then to reinstall the air box cover make sure you have the two locking tabs located at the bottom of the cover in place. Flip it back into place, replace the two screws. Replace the black hose on the air box with clamp in place, then wiggle the other end back on the intake/plenum then tighten the clamp. If the hose doesn't want to go back on the intake very easily, put some vegetable oil, very small amount on the inside of the rubber for lube, vaseline will also work.

Remove the lid from the air filter box. Remove the old filter. Insert new filter. Reinstall top of filter box. Most auto parts stores will install it for free if you buy the filter.

Go to your local auto parts store and buy a new filter. Take it home and install it. It's NOT rocket science. If you can't perform such a simple task, then you probably shouldn't be driving an automobile.

It's good choice

on my 1997 buick lesabre, 3800 v6 what do i have to do to change the air filter ? i just bought this car and i want to do a tune-up on it ! it still runs good but i don,t know how long it,s been since the air filter been changed ! i like to do what i can on it by myself without taking it to the garage because of my income ! the car has the original miles on it because the people i bought it from did not drive it very much ! it has 75,000 original miles on it so i want to keep it running good as long as i can ! thanks guys !
