AM I GETTING RIPPED OFF BY THIS MECHANICS REPORT??

He's playing a game, that I call "bait and switch". He knew it was 4wd when you asked for a price, so that alone is fraud. I assume you authorized the $1400 estimate and the place started the work. Then all the add-ons, which you shouldn't have authorized. The $50 tow also. I'm wondering about the rear main seal too. If he quoted without looking, then he's a fraudulent guy. Rear main seal makes a mess when it leaks. He should have seen it before he started the job. Do you have oil leaking on your driveway?

I think he's a shady guy. You should report him to your state bureau of automotive regulation, and complain to your state's Attorney General office, or state consumer protection division, under the state attorney general.

Agreeing to the add-ons and picking up the vehicle and paying the huge bill, makes YOU look like the problem. I wouldn't have agreed to the add-ons, and certainly not paid and picked up the vehicle.

I would hsve stopped the process when he added on the 4wd charge of $250.

he called me to let me know about the extra charges he said those things had to be done in addiotional

but it seemed like he tried to find ways to add more if I would of known this was the case I wouldnt have taken it to him in the first place

I mentioned that the truck needed rear main seals since he was taking down the transmission

he tried to talk me into more things to do like changing the oil pan gasket i personally bought and placed it 4 months ago he told me about upgrading to towing parts for extra $75 its just crazy from $1400 to $2309.72

I searched on maps for auto mechanic near my location and several appeared

he has his garage kind of shop next to the police department and the city hall

Was this a regular transmission shop or repair garage? Transmission shop would be in the 2500 dollar range to rebuild with adding the updates to the transmission. which he didn't do because if he did he would of charged that too. By the way what's the warranty if anything less than 12 months then you're getting ripped off. if he belongs to either one of our trade associations you can get in touch with them (ATRA.COM) or (ATSG.COM)

You said he called you, on different days, to explain different charges, right? The only dispute I see hear is the tow bill of $50.

of course he's taking advantage .. most of them will .. you should have been specific .. 'i just want my transmission fixed' for now, and be sure they agree to it and get a quote in writing .. alot of the other items are not even related to the transmission, so if you wanted to take it to court, maybe you would have a case, maybe not ... talk to a lawyer ..

yes, he is taking advantage, did you approve all these added cost? if so then there is not much you will be able to do, tell him to not touch another thing on the car, ask for all parts replaced then have another mech. go over the car to see just what was replaced and file claim in court!

on November 19 2014 my transmission quit on me I called several shops to see if they could repair my

02 escalade ext it is a 4x4 v8 engine 6.0

Before we decided to choose this shop we asked the mechanic by phone

how much is it to rebuild my transmission he said $1400

he said he would cover the tow truck of $50

then he calls me on different days

add $250 because my truck is 4x4

add $100 for transfer reseal

add $36 For rear main seal kit

add $95 Labor to install rear main seal

add $? Torque Converter

add $345 Total labor

add $254 Total Labor Parts

add $29.99 Shop expenses/waste Disposal

add $50 Tow

add $130.73 Tax

total $2,309.72

on November 25th 2014 the repair was finshed

he said he was going to add smoke to the engine to see if there was additional seals that needed replacement

I was confused about that

I repair my own cars but not on this case with transmission or rear main seals

he got upset about me asking for a detailed report describing

what he put in my truck

what can I do about this we had a transmission rebuilt in the past and

the last mechanic charged us about $1,400 not a single penny more

is this guy trying to get sued or what actions can we take about this it seems like hes trying to

take advantage
