Time to start taking the public transport.
I've been doing the traditional (not 15kmi) Mobil One oil and their brand oil filter every 10kmi or every spring and fall solstice, sometimes the oil looks so good I even think that's a waste. I also had 2 GM rides that had the oil change indicator that went off when the ECM counted the number of engine turns and rises in temperature (I know a few auto engineers), so in the city it would give me close to the customary 3kmi interval, but when I had to drive from Detroit to Denver a few times as a temp, the long trips made the oil thingy go to nearly 7kmi, pretty good way to estimate it but even if you follow the car maker's 3kmi recommendation, you spend +3x oil change$, so I think the Mobil One route is cheaper, lazier, and better for the engine, too.
when it hits 0% you should get it changed....
Do the math what was last service mileage .how many miles have you gone ,to ,have used 85,% you can go 15%....so if youve driven 4250 miles you can go about 750 miles to zero....so figure how much you drive a week ,my daughter puts that on in 3 and I take about 7 weeks...
make sure you check oil level and change it when you get the money if thats early so what ?! if it's late no big deal ...decades of Preventive maintenance experience working with factory engineers to test extented intervals and lower viscosity oils for police and taxi fleets ...the analysis shows a different picture then the commercial/ sales would lead us to believe...Remember to keep any warranty in effect you have to play by their rules ..if your not, consider the mobile1 extended 15000mile annual oil change it's about cost of two changes at a Walmart lube or you can do it yourself for about $30 just need to ignore the oil% til next June..
Until you run out of gas. If you don't have $30 for an oil change you probably don't have enough for gas either.
So my 2006 Civic keeps showing me the mantinence light and the oil peercentage when I then the car on. It's at 15%. Once it gets to 0% how much further can I drive? I have no money at all to get an oil change and won't expect a paycheck for about 3 weeks. Thanks.
