2004 Poniac Sunfire Car Trouble?

that belt your referring to is the serpentine belt ! it could be the ignition switch ! once you get it going have auto zone or advance to check the charging system ! by the fuel pump not kicking on check the pump relay, it could be sticking !

Those are codes for the can-bus system that links all the computers you have in the car. They should be cleared as they set many times due to electrical problems. I'd have the charging system tested to make sure the alternator is putting out the correct voltage and amperage and that there is no AC ripple. The AC ripple will cause many electrical malfunctions. You will waste more money guessing than if you would hire a competent mechanic. If you can't afford a mechanic what will you do when you have to tow the car home or to a garage? That will be $100 right there!

u1000 is a body control module problem, u1016 is a pcm/ecm problem. It's likely your car's computer is shot, but I'd take it in to be diagnosed to be sure because either way it's a rather expensive problem to fix. Also, the gauges acting up is an entirely different problem that GM cars have. It requires a new gauge cluster and programming to the tune of $4-500.

Couldn't they tell you at Autozone what the codes meant? Or you might try googling them. Could be a bad ground in the dashboard, ignition switch, or computer going bad.

Autozone said if its not a engine code, they cant tell me what they mean. They sent me home to google it. I google is and get communication errors, google beyond that it dosent give me much to work with.

My 2004 sunfire just had a belt replaced, i forget the name of the belt. Its the one that runs everything about the car. Either way, right after that the car suddenly dies while driving it, im not sure the two things are connected but just incase they are. There is no common condition that the car dies. Once i was going uphill the next down and coming to a stop. The lights & radio stayed on so its not a battery issue. The first time it started right back up, the next took 4 tries. There is no warning when its going to go, no noises no funny feeling nothing. Then i went to start it the one day and it wouldent start, fuel pump wouldent turn on. I left it sit another day and now it starts up fine again. I took it to autozone and got error codes u1000 and u1016. Now ive noticed my gagues (rpm, mph & gas) dont work properly, they stick, they jump around. Where do i even start in trying to figure out what is wrong with my car? I need to get this fixed ASAP. i cant find what these codes are linked too. Does anyone have any ideas? Know anything about codes? I cant afford a mecahnic at this point in time.
