A wiring issue. There is a short to ground somewhere. Starter? CEL does come on in the on position in every car. It won't go out til it starts.
Turns out the computer fuse was blown
sounds like bad grounds. there should be grounds engine to frame, frame to battery, and battery to engine

I have a 1992 Cherokee that has no spark or fuel after the fuel pump was replaced. I tested the fuel pump and it works. The check engine light turns on as soon as the key is turned to the "on" position and stays on. I did the key dance numerous times and it would not pull codes. When trying to start it, the red battery cable smokes out of the terminal and gets hot, then the security light turns on. Any ideas?
