can be found easily and inexpensively at you local self serve wrecking yard. It will cost you more time than money, but it is well worth it! Hole in the sheet metal bottom of the trunk? Weld it, bondo/fiberglass it, or patch it with another piece of sheet metal. What you are asking for concerning the trunk would take weeks or months to teach you about.
This isn't the place for that. Just visit the wrecking yard and have a look at all of the Toyota's they have there. Check out what tools you'll need to bring back with you to get
the door handles, locks, dash, and seats out of the car/s you find. You'll have a blast and be amazed at how low the prices are compared to new. Tip: Sometimes it's smarter to replace the whole assembly rather than just one item of that assembly.
For example, why pay $100 to a shop to fix a tear or re-skin a torn seat; when you can replace the whole seat in great condition from the wrecking yard for $20?
I guess you could find someone to do the whole thing at a certain price. But it might be practically the same as buying a restored car, except you supply the carcass.
Or you could get someone to get it running and then take it to a body shop to see what it would cost. If you doityourself even if it is a great spray can job it will still look a little toy-like.
Jeep Cherokee
It's 30+ years old, why not worry about getting the thing RUNNING first, then worry about how it looks.
I have an old corolla in my backyard and it want it back up and running. Im not a car savvy person but my dad is so engine troubles he can handle. But im more worried about the exterior.
Now, my dad is cheap. He says that the way it is is just fine; but its a mess. The handles to open the door are busted, there is a crudely cut away hole for the key slot for both the trunk and passenger side. The plastic dash is cracked and the seats ripped open. My biggest concern is the trunk. It had motor oil sitting in the grooves of the car and ate away the steel. Now theres a small hole and stained with oil residue. yes i want to repair it, yes it's expensive, but this car has memories. What can I do to fix these problems? I know I can just leave it at some shop and they get everything, but i want the know the actual materials and process to fix it. i want to understand more about fixing up cars. Any suggestion ?
