You've already identified it's fuel system issue. You further know poor gas will cause it. So you are ahead of steps.
I'd be guessing your fuel line is partially clogged which will cause fuel pressure issue. Or your oxygen sensor is detecting issues.... Or gas/air mixture is not properly burning.
It will get expensive if you keep guessing and replacing parts. You could take it to any mechanic or even to some automotive parts store and ask to have "code" read. Then you'll have better idea.
Can you put in a "good" gas, then add fuel additive, do this like 3 times, then keep using good gas? There's no telling what's in substandard gas. It's not saving you that much money is it??
Good luck.
I don't know how anyone could offer you any help. Your idea of substandard gas is a old wife's tail, there is no such thing, todays cars will not run on substandard anything. And to add some cure in a can is just a waste of money and for sure the easy way out. It didn't work the first time why keep doing the same thing. If you want help get the codes read (yes there codes stored even with the light out) and Google the codes. At least then you will know something as opposed to what you think now.
It's probably just a bad indicator. It could be caused by a bad or faulty fuse. Look in your operator's manual and it should show you which fuses control that indicator. Try replacing it and see if it fixes it.
If your Check engine light comes on a few days & then goes off its most likely nothing major actually my guess is it's the Gas cap causing it. most newer cars can cause a light to come on if hte the cap goes bad or if you don't tighten the cap correctly. Most of them click when tight I always use the 3 click method (hear it click three times ) Hope this helps.
I used to drive a 2004 Toyota Corolla. After several years, the "Check Engine" light turned on... The dealer said it was the gas cap, which they replaced. Then, the light came back, but I noticed it turned off when a good gas treatment was added to the fuel, or by keeping away from sub-par gasoline. Finally, the light turned on again, and off again, on its own, with intervals of perhaps a few weeks in between. What could it be?
