the bigger sports brakes allow to them be used in a harsher environment(aka racing).brakes work off of friction which generates mass amounts of heat. when the brakes get too hot it will vaporize the pads and glass over the rotors making so you can no longer brake. the aftermarket brakes or sports can take more heat than stock brakes. the other upside is it does indeed help them stop quicker due to more braking surface area.they shouldn't lock up unless you really hit them all the way due to the anti lock brake system.
Which is why you have antilock brakes.
Stopping better/quicker than a normal vehicle is a good thing if you're surrounded by below-normal drivers -- and at least half of them are.
brake fading
the idea is that because it's a "performance" vehicle that it can go faster than a regular vehicle and therefore needs to stop better/quicker than a normal vehicle...................the fact is that it's a marketing tool to get some people to buy the " race car "..............a bunch of hooey !!
why do all the car companies advertise bigger brakes? Like why does it matter how big the brakes are if you can only brake so much before the wheels lock up.
