I'll bet you just replaced the purge VALVE...not the complete circuit. You'll get that code if the wiring is bad or if you're carbon canister is flooded with raw gas from topping off the tank. That's why mechanics get paid...they don't just guess, they diagnose problems first. Reading a code is just the beginning of diagnosing a problem.
I have no idea if this will help at all, but today, my check engine light came on, as well as my traction control and stability control lights. I was totally worried, but it turned out that I just needed a new gas cap since the rubber seal had deteriorated. New cap and computer reset and that's all it needed. I would have never thought that many systems would all be impacted, but they were. It's at least worth looking into since it takes all of 30 seconds to inspect.
The purge valve is part of a system it isn't simply a part. A complete examination is needed to cause.
Sometimes, after a repair, you need to wait a while for the light to sort of reset.
