Why are my fuel pumps burning out?

Aftermarket pumps don't last you need to use Delphi or AC Delco pumps you can get them a places like NAPA and AutoZone ask for them check dealers price...

If you're using good pumps ..bad gasoline from budget stations ( I could write a book on the stuff we've found on spectroanalysis)

check the plastic baffle in the tank is it broken, loose or missing...you may need a tank..or bad/dirty fuel filter ...bad/dirty strainer ...bad wire connector...

I've tried to put this in the order from most to least likely cause we've experienced .

rockauto.com has good parts at good prices

This may be caused by faulty wiring. First check your fuses if the fuel pump fuse has the correct amperage. The problem may have long history and previous owner may solve it by installing stronger fuse instead of really checking what is going on.

The aftermarket pumps are crap, get the original equipment Delphi fuel pump part and it will last for 10-20 years.

When was the last time you changed the fuel filter? Are you using a new screen on the pickup every time you put in a new pump?

I have an 1994 chev astronauts van this is the 3 rd fuel pump i had to replace in 4 years does any one know what is causing this? I never let my fuel get under 1/2 tank I DO ALL the schedule maintenance for the car so what could be causing this ?
