Why all the tiles cannot be given anti skid treatment?

I think interior designers are more involved with these issues than civil engineers. Designers I have worked with on these issues generally recommend one tile over another as a less slippery alternative. People have to take responsibility for their own situations, and make sure they are getting a product that will work safely.

I've known multiple people injured in tile baths on vacation. I knew one person who suffered severe brain injuries from a tile fall that required years of rehab. Their family lost their house and their regular way of life after that incident. This is a serious issue that people need to take personal responsibility for. Your life can change in a second forever.

wear & tear makes smooth tiles rough. Anti skid tiles are designed as per locations where these are going to be used.In bathroom floor Architect & interior people select anti-skid tiles as water traces are found in toilet.

At other places mirror polished tiles in floor are avoided for the same reason which you raised.

The vitrified tiles may ,may not suited to old age persons or those peoples whose shoe's sole has not been designed properly. Therefore such a tiles should be avoided in public places.

The reason of selection of vitrified tiles is that these can be cleaned easily by mopping & vitrification makes tiles smooth for longer duration in use.You can visit BIS website & know about codes for anti-skid tiles.IS 13630 PART 12 is now inactive which provide test for unglazed tiles for determination of surface resistance for deep abrasion.

When does a civil engineer put tiles on a floor? Than sounds more like a plumber.

We have 3000 square feet of tile in our house. It has been there for 17 years. No one has ever fallen on these tiles because they have a slight roughness to them.

You can get a wide variety of ties in many shapes and colors that have sufficient texture to make slipping very difficult.

the incidences of people getting injured after falling off from slippery tiles are on rise. Why the civil engineers do not recommend fitting anti skid tiles ? Is there any test to determine slipperiness of the tiles ?

My observation is that after few days of use, these tiles become very smooth.
