What is the function of oil in gasoline?

Simple the first and number one function is to lubricate mating parts. Without oil, all the moving parts will create friction and weld together.

The second function is cooling. Oil helps cool the engine along with coolant. Though they are a seperate system and never mixes.

Like for a 2 cycle engine? Gasoline is refracted from crude oil so what is your question?

In a 2 stroke engine 2 stroke oil is added to gasoline to lubricant the pistons because there is no separator like in a engine that runs gasoline . 2 stroke engines burn the gas/oil mixture as they run which is why you actually want to have the blue colored smoke coming from them as they run if your running it too lean (not enough 2 stroke oil) then the piston isn't getting enough lubrication and you will burn up a motor faster. In cars for instance gasoline is made using oil and that is how they are connected.

Ah fossil fuels and how they run our lives. Send a man to The moon but can't figure out how to run ky car without destroying the Eco-system.

Assuming your talking about a 2 stroke engine, the oil is added for lubrication.
