Proper screenwash is cheap at a supermarket, 5 litres of concentrate is about a fiver and in summer can be diluted 10 to 1.
Ive always used washing up liquid a good 1/4 of a cup to a full bottle of water cuts through everything and smells nice to. Stops blades squeaking too.
You can buy 5 litre bottles of screen wash now, fairly cheaply.
Washing up liquid being a detergent will rot your blades and any rubber surrounds of the windscreen, not to mention blocking up the outlet nozzles.
Good answers from Mark and George, I use about a teaspoon of Dawn each time I fill the Washer bottle with water. When I was living up north in cold country I used the expensive Washer Fluid for the best freeze protection, but still added Dawn.
Generic Windex.
Add a little methylated spirit to the screen wash it will take off all the smears on your wind screen .
Screen wash or washing up liquid.

I live on a farm, so theres lots of dust, mud (especially during farming season), flies and stuff that sticks to the window, and neat water just wont clean the window properly. Is there anything else I can put in the washer bottle (other than screenwash) that is fairly cheap to buy lots of (or buy regularly) that will cut through dust, mud, flies etc.
