Pull one from a junk yard and go at it. That is what i always have done. Yes look at when your pulling first and make sure you don't pull like a motor with a cracked bloke or something. Or take a motor off craigslist from a car that got rear ended but still runs. then you know you have a good motor that if your rebuild right should work right once your done.
junk yard ! see if you can find a engine that the block is still good and sit it on a engine stand and go to work !
if you have room to store the car. i would buy an old junker honda for a few hundred and rebuild that eng. That way you will have all the electronics etc for the eng and a car to put it after you build it.
