Excessive heat, low fluid, excessive clutch material clogging passages or filter, valve body not having current updates.
An aftermarket transmission cooler in front of radiator will control heat.
A shift improver or shift kit will let the fluid get to where it needs to be faster to avoid slippage from clutch packs and servos for bands. This kit usually has you modify the valve body and separator plates.
Clean transmission fluid and filter is a must.
depends on transmission since a few models do not have bands. but slipping can be caused by low fluid. other problem could be internal. find local shop at ATRA.COM for more help
Getting the most out of your car means doing regular scheduled maintenance and making sure that the fluid level is correct and not in a condition that will endanger the transmission's moving parts because of the fluids properties. Burned fluid and clogged filters are two big maintenance issues. The other trick is not to do "jackrabbit" starts. Easing into the accellorator is the easiest on the moving parts within the transmission and drive train itself. The two parts that get the most wear in most automatic transmissions are the bands and clutches. These are wear parts that "slip" when the clearance in the closed position does not hold them solid in their position and lets them move or "slip". There is a material bonded to the metal parts that lets two parts come together(called "facings") while moving and eases the stop of the parts.
most bands can be adjusted for slippage. if not its time for a rebuild ...
