yank the heads, it's an interference motor, meaning that the valves will contact the head when the chain goes, thus bent valves. it may only be one or2 but that is enough to keep you from going down the road. as Daniel says you got lucky that it happened while trying to start. I have personally seen the valve take out a piston from such a thing. get a Haynes manual and the necessary tools if you're mechanically inclined and DIY
