Should I buy a car from a distant dealership?

The issue with both cars is they need specialist care. They cannot just be done by a street corner mechanic. They both need a mechanic who understands the cars and has access to the proper computer systems.

To maintain resale they both need a dealer service history.

The Porsche will do a radiator if it gets any sort of front end nudge. Getting parts will be an issue if you get problems with either.

While they are both good makers they are complex European cars and not well understood by many US mechanics.

My mechanic had a Range Rover in with the air suspension failing to lift.

He ordered a new alternator for it even though it was charging OK. Problem solved! He is a specialist in Land Rover vehicles. He knew where to look immediately.

ok, well 5 hours is nothing in the life of a car, if you just bought it, it will probably have just been serviced, also, if you get breakdown cover, then if it does break you can get a tow (i suggest back to the dealer if it broke that quick!)

usually when you buy a car you agree to buy it and then return a few days later when they have serviced it and got it ready for you, and you can alos then sort out insurance to pick it up. of course if the car goes wrong at any point then the dealer being 5 hours away isnt going to make life easy, and land rover dont have the best reliability record. most cars can be serviced or fixed at most garages, but if you are buying a fairly new one then having work carried out at somewhere other than the dealership or a specialist for that car will have a negative impact on the value of the car in future, especially the porsche as its a performance machine and people buying one in future want to know its been looked after.

A 5 hour drive would be fun with your new car.

However, you will need a good mechanic if you are going to buy a Range Rover or a Porsche, you will need a good mechanic.

If you are buying the vehicle new, you will need to go to a dealer for any dealer service, warranty work or recalls.

Basic maintenance can be handled by any competent mechanic.

Rest assured if you have a Range Rover you will be good friends with your mechanic, they aren't exactly renowned for their reliability.

I would check with mechanics in your area to see if any of them have experience with either of these brands (or any other) before you consider paying all this money for a car.

I've been saving for a few monthss and I would like to buy either a Porsche 911 or a Land Rover Range Rover. However, I live in a small town and there are no Porsche nor Land Rover dealers, which means I will have to fly to Ft Worth and then drive the car home, 5 hours away. However I am afraid if something happens to the car, for example it needs an oil change or it breaks down, idk how I would get the car on a 5 hour drive when it needs to be repaired and it might leave me stranded, so I was wondering if these type of car can be repaired at any dealership or any mechanic, or should I buy a car from a brand that does have a local dealer?
