Question about screws?

" male-to-male screws " is a new term for me.

I always keep a collection of screws, nuts and all sort of bits. Double ended studs are common, and may do for you.

Standoffs made with a male thread on end and tapped with the female thread the other end, are commonly available in a variety of sizes and lengths, and can be stacked. They are held by a screw with the same thread on the chassis end, and a nut with the same thread at the board end.

A simpler means of making spacers of the length you require, is to cut sections of tube to the length you want, and use a screw and nut pair that are long enough to pass through the chassis, spacer tube and board. The only requirement is the ends of the tube should be fairly square to the axis of the tube.

The tube could be rigid plastic, it doesn't have to be metal. You could also use nylon screws and nuts, making a totally insulated spacer.

An even simpler spacer system is a long enough screw with multiple nuts. You pass the screw through the chassis, and tighten a nut inside so the screw is standing straight up. Then you screw on another nut, placing it at the height of standoff you want. The board is then placed down onto this nut, and a 3rd. nut is tightener down against the board. Job done.

Do you mean a standoff with a male screw at each end?

They are unusual, most standoffs are female-female or male-female. But there are some. See link.

alternative is just some threaded rod cut to length and a through hole standoff.

female threaded spacers I didn't check anything!

hello, I am working on a project that would require male-to-male screws, but I cant seem to find any screws on the internet with that description. the project I am working on would require spacer standoffs to be stacked. it should look like the 2 boards that are stacked on the right side of this image: http://i1.ytimg.com/vi/Q8IbclW7M3w/hqdefault.jpg

is there a specific name these double sided screws go by? a mouser or amazon link would be amazing.

thanks.
