The iron is rated at 24V 3A = 72W. from R=V/I R= 24/3 = 8 ohms.
When connected to a 24V supply the current drawn will be 24/8 = 3A.
If you connect it to a 24V Lorry battery that COULD supply 120A it will take ...

the 24V supply Auvergne bought is RATED at 4.5A.
That means the MAXIMUM current it can supply continuously is 4.5A.
So since the soldering iron is only drawing 3A it will be fine - the supply will just run a bit cooler - and thats GOOD..

i ve got a soldering iron which requires 24 v 3 A in order to work .so it s a 24 v 3 A soldering iron NOT 220 v means that it can not be plugged straight in 220 v plug wall.so it will needs a 24 v 3 A output power supply to work.
i bought a 24 v 4.5 A output power supply from ebay ,my question isthis power supply gonna work with my soldering iron since the P W is 4.5 A output ,and my soldering iron is 3A ?
